On Summer Resort
Experience the beautiful season in Innsbruck in summer
When temperatures rise and nature is in full bloom, some people just want to get out of the city and up into the mountains, while others would prefer to relax all day at the lake or pool. No matter what you prefer to do in summer, all Innsbruck sights are just a stone's throw away from us!
Countless kilometers of hiking trails lead through the mountain landscape around Innsbruck, from comfortable to high alpine, including numerous opportunities to stop at mountain pastures. The Nordkette is the ideal starting point for your hiking holiday in Innsbruck. The Nordkette cable car takes you to 2,300 m in just 20 minutes. The panoramic circular hiking trail starts at the Seegrube station and offers unique views over the Inn Valley. The Hafelekar is the highest station on the funicular railway. Here, the view opens up over Innsbruck on one side and the peaks of the Karwendel Nature Park on the other side.
Bicycling is practiced in numerous ways these days - and Innsbruck is just the right city to try them all! Mountain bikers can enjoy numerous spectacular trails, which lead from the impressive mountains around the city directly down into the city. The Bikepark Innsbruck offers features at all difficulty levels. But leisure cyclists and racing cyclists also get their money's worth in the Innsbruck region. This is evidenced by the fact that in 2018 the UCI Road World Championships were hosted in Innsbruck.
In Innsbruck in summer, there are countless opportunities for swimming. Our tip and a popular meeting spot is the Baggersee in Rossau, the "lake in the city", with a sunbathing area of over 53,000 square meters. Beach volleyball, basketball, football, a triathlon swimming course, and a diving center are also available. Other lakes include the Untermieming bathing lake, the pristine Möserer natural bathing lake or the up to twelve meters deep alpine Lanser See. At the Natterer See , those seeking fun, sports and adventure gather.
Climbing and bouldering is possible in and around Innsbruck on spectacular rock formations or in state-of-the-art indoor venues. In just a few minutes, you can take the Nordkette cable cars from the city center up to a true climbing paradise - to via ferratas and climbing gardens like the legendary Martinswand. And if the weather doesn't play along, climbing gyms and indoor boulders await big and little "climbers" - like in Telfs or at the Innsbruck Climbing Center, one of the largest and most modern facilities in the world.
